Nyx emerged from Chaos at the very beginning of creation — one of the first beings to exist, predating the Olympians by an eternity. She is the goddess of night, mother of Sleep, Death, Strife, Dreams, and Fate. When Zeus once considered punishing her son Hypnos, he thought better of it upon reaching her cave. The king of the gods, who feared nothing, feared Nyx. She did not need to threaten him. Her presence was enough.
